The Heruli – Prologue

To the Romans, Athinai is dear,
The mother that taught them so patiently and clear,
No defiling of the Mother can go unchallenged,
Mars and Romana are Imperator.

Gothicus readies his armies and fleets,
Marching forward on hurried feet,
In the land of the Amazons their enemy they do meet.

The Romans look the Heruli in the eye,
Serried ranks of shields and spear,
The armies engage,
The lesson is taught,
Victoria lands on the field; her shield held high,
The Heruli are purged and fraught,
Back to Norse some do flee,
Justice is done, for Athinai and Byzantium too,
Pax Romana, kneel to the Imperator.
